WHAT IS PHOENIX/23?
Phoenix/23 is an ASL Theatrical Signing Troupe whose mission is to bring awareness and better understand the deaf culture and community. P/23 uses sign language to inspire others to learn in order to engage and build relationships as well as create more opportunities for people and businesses to better serve those who are deaf. P/23 is about reaching people in a new way to bring awareness to deaf culture. P/23 is a performance troupe that uses theatrical signing to tell stories through signing and music. When we hold events our proceeds go to the local deaf community by donating to JCIL: Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services.

WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO
The thought behind P/23 is that if we can find way for younger generations to learn and be passionate about learning ASL then we can help get more accessible opportunities for our local deaf community. We have sent our alum out into the world to accomplish just that. One of our alum works in the Jackson-Madison School System as an educational interpreter. Many of our other alum and current students have been able to connect with the deaf community in Tennessee in their everyday lives.
